It’s that time of year again when we must get back to reality with early morning alarm clocks, bowls of porridge and long days. The Christmas life is over and there are no more chocolates left in the celebrations box, the Christmas films have been taken off Netflix and an endless list of work has begun. The year 2018 is ahead of us and like any other new year we make even better by deciding to improve our life with a few New Year’s Resolutions.

There’s no better feeling than motivating yourself at the start of the year, whether it’s to eat healthier, attempt veganuary or save more money. However, following through on those resolutions is the hardest task.

Here are our top 5 tips on how to help you achieve your New Years Resolutions...

1) Start small

It’s very daunting to begin a list of new years resolutions and the more you have the less likely you are to stick to them. The trick is to start with a small list and something that you know that you can achieve. If your new years resolution is to start exercising more then start by going to the gym three times a week or walking instead of driving.

2) Tell friends and family

Talking to friends and family about your new year’s resolutions can help you to stick to them. They can encourage and motivate you if there are days you just aren’t feeling up to it. It’s not always easy cutting out the bad habits you love, but if you have a great support network then it can give you that bit more encouragement.

3) One step at a time

You aren’t going to be able to turn your life around in a few days, that’s why taking one step at a time helps you build on changing your bad habits. Once you start seeing the great effect it has on your life this will motivate you to take more and more steps in the right direction.

4) Treat yourself

I know its import to stick completely to your new years resolutions however it is also important to let yourself have some fun too. Treat yourself once a week and make sure you stick to them the rest of the week and you will see a great improvement in your daily life.

5) Don’t put yourself down

If you think maybe you aren’t doing as great as you should be, don’t put yourself down because of it. Pick yourself back up and start again. New year’s resolutions are not supposed to be chores or punishments, we come up with them to make our life better so try enjoying your life when you are doing them.
