Things to do after the Olympics

Not sure what to do with your holidays after the Olympics? Fear not, Condor Properties get some ideas from some inspirational students...

It’s times like this when we envy you; the Olympic Games have been gripping so far... if only we could see more of them, if only we were students again. However, while you’ve been kicking back and watching London 2012, we have been chatting to some inspiring students to find out what they’re getting up to this summer. So if you’re looking for cheap thrill when you can no longer ogle over the volleyball or pretend to understand handball, then perhaps these guys will give you some ideas...

Eating through the summer

It might sound like a record attempt to become the fattest woman in Britain, but aspiring gastronomy guru, Kate Simmons (who incidentally weighs about the same as a bar of soap), is quaffing her way around pubs and restaurants this summer – for free.

“I signed up to a company called www.mysterydining.net, which employs incognito reviewers to go and eat in pubs and restaurants,” explains Kate.

“After your meal you fill out a form and give feedback on the establishment, which the company then pass onto the pub or restaurant. I’m always reimbursed for my expenses and sometimes get a small fee.”

Doing a Bradley “sideburns” Wiggins

Keen cyclist and student at Bristol University, William Banks, will cycle from London to Valencia this summer, a trip that will finish with the famous tomato throwing festival, La Tomatina.

“Me and a few buddies came up with the idea when we were drunk one night this year,” he says.

“We’ve been training since, although we’re not going to be hardcoring it – we want to see some of the places we visit en route.”

Britain on a budget

By car sharing and couch surfing, Tom Brookes, a student in Swansea, aims to see as much of Britain as possible for as little as possible.

“Lots of students go travelling around Europe during the summer, but I realised I’ve never been to places like Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle or Edinburgh and I really want to see those cities,” he explains.

“So I’ve signed up to lift share and couch surfing websites and aim to travel around Britain without spending anything on travel or accommodation - this is my last summer before I graduate, when else will I get chance to do that?”
